My name is Hokkaido.
I came to Lanta Animal Welfare in October 2025. Before that, I was a stray on Koh Lanta. Someone was feeding me, but my skin kept getting worse. They didn’t have a way to give me the medicine I needed. So they brought me here instead.
I have a chronic skin condition. Chronic means it doesn’t go away. Mine is tied to allergies and to my FIV status. Both require ongoing care.
I need medicated baths to keep my skin calm. I need anti-inflammatory medication, every day, for the rest of my life. I need regular blood tests, to make sure that medication isn’t causing harm somewhere else.
This isn’t a short-term treatment. This is the care I need to stay comfortable and enjoy my life.
Cats with FIV get overlooked. People hear the diagnosis and assume the worst. But FIV isn’t a death sentence. Managed properly, I can live a long, full life.
I will never be cured. But I can be comfortable, every day, for as long as I live.
